We are writing this post just a little too late to call these changes our New Year’s Resolutions for 2022, but nonetheless we are happy to share all of the pretty awesome things we’re working on and have already accomplished as we moved into this year!

Let’s just say New Year, New Zerra & Co.: we are on our merry way to a major glow up, my friends.

From even more sustainable and reusable packaging options to a major certification, here are all the amazing ways we are working towards our best and most sustainable year ever as we rock the cosmetics industry.

Drumroll please…

Leaping Bunny Certified

We are beyond excited to announce that Zerra & Co. is officially Leaping Bunny Certified!

In a nutshell, this means we our products are certifiably 100% free of animal testing.

What are Leaping Bunny Standards?

For a more in depth definition of what this means, here is the Leaping Bunny Standard straight from their website, leapingbunny.org:

“The Standard is short for the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals, a voluntary pledge that cosmetic, personal care, and/or household product companies based in the US or Canada make to clear animal testing from all stages of product development. A company's ingredient suppliers and/or manufacturers must make the same pledge. The result is a product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of new animal testing. All Leaping Bunny companies must be open to independent audits, and commitments are renewed on an annual basis.”

While Zerra & Co. has always been a cruelty free cosmetics company, getting this certification is a great way to assure all our customers that we always uphold this standard. It also makes it easy for new customers to see that we are indeed cruelty free at first glance.

Feel free to throw some biodegradable confetti and celebrate with us, you sustainable beauty, you.

1% for the Planet

Additionally, Zerra and Co. is now a member of 1% for the Planet, a registered nonprofit and global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions.

As members of 1% for the Planet, business members commit to donating the equivalent of 1% of gross sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind and approved promotional support directly to environmental nonprofits. Plus, all donations are certified by 1% for the Planet, so you know they are going directly and completely to the environmental nonprofits that align with our values. 

This is a fantastic program and we are overjoyed to be a part of it!

More Reusable Packing

We have also been looking at our products directly, and deliberating how we can make our packaging even more eco friendly - as you know, we are always looking for ways to grow and expand our sustainability measures within the company.

So moving forward into 2022, we will be using less of the compostable paperboard packaging and begin using more reusable packaging. By using more metal and bamboo components, we can create more longevity in our containers and create more opportunities to reuse the packing we offer.

For example, our lotion bars will soon be sold in reusable metal tins that will better protect them and make on-the-go use super easy. Just toss it in your bag and you’re good to go! Refills will continue to be sold in the recyclable paper boxes so you can reuse your metal tin again and again.

As new products launch over the coming year, you’ll notice more and more reusable packaging options to add to your Zerra & Co. collection, so keep your eye out!

Out With the Old, In With the New

You may also have noticed Zerra and Co. is sporting a new look - talk about a New Year’s glow up!

New look, same amazing products you know and love.

That being said, it’s not all about the looks for us - it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and we want to make sure our brand materials are created sustainably and ethically.

That’s why we are completely transitioning to noissue for our labels and other branding materials. Noissue is an innovative company that creates customized, sustainable packaging options for makers, brands, and businesses that care about the environment, just like us! All of their products are either compostable, recyclable, or reusable, and we are here for it.

This is a great alternative to ordering from other printing companies where their sustainability measures are often unknown and hard to trace. Working with noissue, we can now feel confident that we are working with a brand that cares about the environment as much as we do, and aligns with many of our other values.

Brand New Low and Zero Waste Cosmetics!

Yep, you read that right. You have all been asking for more low and zero waste alternatives to some of your favorite beauty products, and we have been listening intently.

As we continue to grow as a company, we're looking forward to expanding our makeup line to replace every plastic-filled beauty product you know and love.

So in 2022 and moving forward, we will be releasing more of the eco-friendly cosmetic products you’ve been waiting for. While we can’t spill the beans quite yet, we’ll let you in on a little secret: in the lineup there are updates to old favorites as well as brand new makeup additions so you can complete your makeup routine with even more eco-friendly options.
